Clinton Streetscape Project – Water & Sewer Infrastructure Improvements
Cannon & Cannon, Inc. (CCI) partnered with the Clinton Utilities Board (CUB) to deliver professional engineering services to update water and sewer infrastructure as part of the City of Clinton’s Streetscape Project in downtown Clinton, Tennessee. The Streetscape project revitalized the streetscape along Main Street (Broad Street to Cullom Street), Broad Street (Charles G. Seviers Blvd to Main Street), and Market Street (Main Street to Cullom Street), enhancing the area’s aesthetics and improving infrastructure.
CCI led the design efforts, addressing the impact of the streetscape design on underground utilities. During the conceptual design phase, the CCI Transportation team developed a preliminary streetscape plan to guide the project. CCI Utilities provided engineering design services to support CUB in replacing and rehabilitating critical water and sewer infrastructure, including:
Water Line Upgrades (4,500 LF Total):
- Replaced and upsized 650 LF of 6” watermain on Market Street (Main Street to Cullom Street) with 8” DIP.
- Replaced and upsized 1,800 LF of 6” watermain on Main Street (Broad Street to Cullom Street) with 12” DIP.
- Replaced and upsized 660 LF of 10” watermain on Cullum Street (Market Street to Main Street) with 12” DIP.
- Replaced and upsized 940 LF of 6” and 2” water line along Cullom Street and Commerce Street (Market Street to Church Street) with 6” DIP, ending at a bathroom building on Commerce Street.
- Replaced 450 LF of 6” watermain on Broad Street (Main Street to Charles G. Seviers Blvd) with 8” DIP, with CUB later deciding on its inclusion in the Downtown Streetscapes Contract.
Sewer Upgrades (3,850 LF Total):
- Replaced and Rerouted 60 LF of 12” and 8” Gravity sewer on Freddy Fagan Way.
- Rehabilitated 2,100 LF of 8” gravity sewer on Main Street, Commerce Street with Cured-In-Place-Pipe.
- Rehabilitated 950 LF of 10” and 12” gravity sewer on Broad Street and Charles G. Sievers Blvd with Cured-In-Place-Pipe.
Additional Improvements:
- Replaced water services and fire hydrants along the corridor.
- The addition of a dry fire line to assist fire-fighting efforts during festivals that closed off truck access to Market Street.
Through strategic planning and innovative design, CCI ensured the integration of modern water and sewer infrastructure, supporting the City of Clinton’s vision for a revitalized downtown while enhancing utility reliability for the community.
