Pirtle Spring Water Treatment Plant and Gray Lane Raw Water Pump Station

Hardin County Water District No. 1 contracted Cannon & Cannon, Inc. to expand the capacity of their Pirtle Spring Water Treatment Plant. The expansion included:

• Evaluation of the existing treatment plant and raw water sources to identify improvements to upgrade capacity.
• Phase I improvements included:
  • Additional raw water pumping capacity through a renovated groundwater pumping station.
  • Additional filter capacity through the addition of a fourth filter.
  • New water booster station to improve high service pump operation and efficiency.
  • Safety improvements at the plant by replacing a deteriorated elevated catwalk.

CCI’s scope included planning and preliminary engineering report, modeling of the high service pumps and distribution system including future hydraulic grades, field survey, detailed design, construction documents, bidding and negotiation, construction administration, and construction inspection. The project includes a Rural Development Rural Utilities Service loan and CCI is tasked with loan application, environmental review, and administration through loan closing.
