SR 29 Intersection at I-40
As part of an ongoing TDOT On-Call Traffic Engineering Services Contract, Cannon and Cannon, Inc. was requested to provide survey and engineering design services for the development of ramp and intersection improvements for the westbound I-40 ramp and intersection with SR 29 in Harriman, Tennessee. The intersection and ramp were identified through a Road Safety Audit (RSAR) and the Ramp Queue Program as needing improvements to address excessive vehicle delays and the potential for westbound vehicles to queue onto mainline I-40 westbound.
Project improvements included widening of the westbound ramp to provide two separate lanes approaching the intersection with SR 29, the installation of traffic signal on SR 29 at the westbound ramp intersection, and associated signing, pavement markings, and drainage improvements. Project plans were developed in TDOT format.
