The University of Tennessee Lake Loudoun project is a new residence hall, dining facility, and parking garage for the University of Tennessee Knoxville Campus. The site is located at the corner of Volunteer Boulevard and Lake Loudoun Boulevard, formerly Gibbs Hall and Stokely Athletics Center. The project was designed in 2013 – 2014 and construction began in June of 2014. The residence hall and dining facility are scheduled to open in the Spring of 2017 and the parking garage is set to open in August 2016. Cannon & Cannon, Inc. (CCI) is the civil site designer of record for the residence hall and dining portion of the project along with Cope Associates Architecture.
The new residence hall has 586 bedrooms with shared living spaces and will house 684 students. The total square footage of the building is approximately 375,000 square feet with an overall footprint of approximately 33,000 square feet. The dining facility is open to all students, faculty, and staff. The third phase of this overall project includes the expansion of Haslam Field which CCI is providing Civil Design Services.
SITE CIVIL DESIGN SERVICES
CCI provided civil design for the layout, grading, drainage, and utilities design for both the residence hall and the dining facility in conjunction with Ross Fowler’s landscape and site design. The project included coordination with the site and building design for the parking garage (by others). Site features included a loading dock for the dining services, a utility area for generators, electrical and gas services as well as a recycling area.
